The Russian SKS Rifle, chambered in the iconic 7.62×39mm intermediate cartridge, stands as a pivotal bridge between the bolt-action era and modern assault rifles, embodying Soviet ingenuity during the early Cold War. Designed by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov and formally adopted in 1945, this semi-automatic carbine leveraged the newly developed 7.62×39mm M43 cartridge, a revolutionary round that balanced recoil, range, and stopping power for infantry combat.
